Henry Rifle’s New Accu-Bolt 17HMR

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Henry Rifles has a new varmint rifle out, that I can’t wait to try (I already ordered one in 17HMR!). Their new varmint rifle is an all-stainless steel, semi-heavy barrel, single-shot, bolt action rifle chambered in .22 LR, .22 Magnum or the .17 HMR. It comes with a 4x scope with a cantilever scope mount at no extra charge. If you prefer not to use a scope, it’s also outfitted with a set of Williams Fire Sights. Stick all of this on a one piece synthetic stock, and you have the start of a great squirrel gun. Since Henry is known for the smoothest of actions, I can’t wait to try it out in the squirrel fields this spring.

Stay tuned to find out more after I get it, and if you want to see what I’m talking about, go to Henry’s website to read all about their new Accu-Bolt Varmint Rifle.

17 HMR Squirrel Shooting Video

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

I finally broke down and spent the day going through dvd’s from last year’s squirrel shooting trips. I didn’t try to do anything artistic with this video, but it does quell the basic need for seeing squirrels getting whacked… I’ll try to get up some more videos in the next week or two, so check back.

All of these squirrels were shot using my Savage 17hmr accutrigger, with Hornady 17gr ballistic tip bullets. On a side note, there’s nothing like having a video camera mounted on your rifle to show you when you jerk the trigger.

New Squirrel Hunting Season Coming Up

Monday, January 11th, 2010

It’s winter, and I’m weary of it. Here’s a 9 minute squirrel shooting video to get every body thinking about the new squirrel hunting season. The squirrels will start popping up in March, and as soon as they start popping up, I’m going to start popping them.

These guys are using a 22 magnum and a hand held camera, so the camera work is a little shaky from time to time, but we all started out that way.
