The Verminator put a 6.5 - 20 x 50mm Burris scope on my Bushmaster yesterday, and now I need to go to the park and sight it in. (Did I say that out loud?)

So, now I have my .223 Bushmaster back in action, with a new-to-me, high dollar…. OK, medium dollar, scope on it. Add to that the new, Smooth-As-Butter, two stage sniper trigger and all I need now is a couple of hundred squirrels to shoot. To get ready for that I think I’m going to take it down to the range and see if I can put 10 rounds in the same 1/2 inch hole at 100 yards.

WOW I’m Looking forward to that….

On another note, the Verminator, who has really bad luck with .17HMR’s, just got his Ruger 77/17 back from the gunsmith. The barrel that came on the rifle had a “SLIGHT” problem, where it drifted rounds across the target as it got warm. It was really noticeable, and made the gun not worth a sh*t as far as accuracy went. So he is also feeling the need to run to the gun club and see how the new barrel works out.

Here is a list of cheap scopes that will make your squirrel hunting just that much better. There isn’t any reason to spend a bunch on optics when most of the rodents I’ve ever shot were under 200 yards. I use a cheap Bushnell 6×18x50 on my .17hmr, and I’ve never had any problems hitting what I was shooting at. I also use a Bushnell on my .223 Bushmaster, and I paid less than $40.00 for that scope because it was used. (more…)

I bought my cheap Bushnell scope today. The one I said I was going to get at Bi-Mart or Wal-Mart, I actually ended up getting at the Sportsman’s Warehouse for $119.99; $10.00 cheaper than Wal-Mart. I was there with my brother-in-law, VERMINATOR, who shows up here and writes something once in awhile when I beg.

So, I was like, “hey give me that cheap Bushnell 6-18×50mm scope for my .17HMR.” to the counter guy, and he’s like, “why, your not really going to use it for shooting are you? You know you can just tape a toilet paper roll to the top of your rifle and pretend you have a scope and it will work just as well.” (VERMINATOR is laughing at me and they are looking at some $10,000.00 scope for the VERMINATOR’s Air Soft Rifle….)
