This guy is a pro squirrel skinner. I’ve seen squirrels skinned before, but never as slick as this guy does it.
(Not that it matters, really. This site is mostly for westerners, who shoot squirrels and let the lower life forms eat the remains, not southerners, who eat the f***’n hairy rats themselves. EEEEEEwwwwweeeee!)
OK, I laughed. I bet the squirrels were really taken by surprise when the guys wrapped in dear hides started shooting. (Wouldn’t you wear squirrel fur when hunting squirrels? Kind of a blending in thing?) I don’t know, what do the rest of you think? LOL
This video is OK, but I have a problem with shooting an AR-15 at squirrels that are standing in front of cows, houses and roads. I know that lots of people don’t really take into account what is behind their shot, but to me that is very dangerious and scary. I’m not going to judge these guys, but I do think you should pay attention to the safety violations that take place during this video, just so you know what not to do.
If you are going to shoot squirrel in an area with people, cars and livestock, you need to make sure you do a good job of checking your background before taking the shot. I know it’s sometimes hard to do when you are in the heat of the hunt, but you really need to do so so that you don’t end up giving all hunters a bad name.
I know this is a squirrel shooting website that drifts into shooting other varmints from time to time, but I just had to show you guys this bunny rabbit video that is posted over on youtube. I’ve never seen so many rabbits in one place. The rabbits in this video are almost as thick as the squirrels are when we go ground squirrel hunting in the Spring. If anyone knows where we can find a bunny rabbit infestation like this, let me know and I’ll see if I can get a couple of guys to show up for a bunny rabbit shoot off. LOL
Just click on the play button to watch what a .17 HMR Ruger will do to a rabbit, and then click on it again if it doesn’t start.
This is a pretty good video, but I had to turn the music off when they changed songs in the middle since they started dropping the F-word. If you have any kids in the room, just make sure the sounds is off.
It looks like the shooter is using CCI Hollow Point ammunition instead of the Hornaday Ballistic Tip ammunition, because way too many of the squirrels are still moving for a long time after they are shot. If I was shooting these squirrels I would have finished them off, especially the one that is “Trouting” for so long at the end of the video. (I may be wrong though, since I’ve found the most active squirrels to be those who no longer have a head.)
Here’s a new squirrel shooting video (yea, yea, I got tired of my fans sending me hate mail for not posting more dead squirrels). This squirrel was hit in the chest and was almost blown in half by the 17gr. Hornady 17 HMR ballistic tip round that hit it. Pay attention during the slow motion part, and you can see pieces of squirrel meat flying in all directions. Ouch!

I just posted this on youtube. I was going through old discs of squirrel hunts that I haven’t used yet, and found a ton of stuff I forgot I had. This video is 4 shots taken from my Savage 17 hmr at a ground squirrel. It was at the end of the day, and I’d just missed the last 5 squirrels or so. (Even the SquirrelSniper gets weak and tired after 8 hours of shooting and only 4 Twinkies.)
These shots all hit though, and this squirrel ends up in 3 or 4 pieces. The video is a little shaky because Wanna Bee was holding the video camera in his hand, instead of having it on the tripod. Also, the rolling sound in the background in the middle of the video is of my brass rolling around on the dash…. Yea, Yea, I know, but I was just too tired and lazy by then to get out of the truck. LOL

This 10 minute hunting video has some good squirrel shooting footage on it, but watching it made me cringe. From the looks of it, and the sound of it, they are using a .22 long rifle and an AR-15 in .223. BUT, they are doing quite a few things that are really unsafe, as well as indiscriminately shooting things other than squirrels.
The main problem I have with their shooting is that they don’t make sure of their backstop before taking the shot. They take shots at squirrels that are in front of Cows, Houses, Tractors, Roads, Sprinkler Pipes and more.
They are also shooting birds. While you can get a hunting license to shoot some birds, LBB’s (little brown birds) and Magpies aren’t included in that list. (As a matter of fact, last time I checked, it was illegal to shoot Magpies in Oregon, and the video looks like it was shot in Central Oregon. But, I’ve been wrong before.)
