Henry .45-70 Rifle Lever Action – new caliber, new rifle

I know, I know…this is not a squirrel or varmint-class rifle!

But, Oh – what a beauty! Any gun nut would love to get their hands on this lever action!

Henry Repeating Arms .45-70 Lever Action

Reading some of the other write-ups about this it seems there is a LOT of interest in this rifle. Introduced by the U.S. Army in 1873, this cartridge was first known as the .45 Government. This is a big game rifle – suitable for deer to some of the largest game you can take.

Folks in bear country up North in Canada and Alaska will love this gun.

And, coming from Henry, you can bank on an excellent quality and that classic Henry smooth lever action.

I think this gun alone would be a good reason to get the latest Henry Rifles Catalog. You can get yours free by clicking the .45-70 above.

Stop drooling…

Now – back to our varmint discussions….

We don’t do much advertising or charge for this site in. In fact, we give away free targets you can print out and other things at times.

Henry Rifles has been our sole advertiser for over four years now and graciously continues to help support us to keep this site going.

Henry Rifles are made in the USA by US workers out of steel, wood and brass that comes from the USA. The lever actions are smooth and they handle great. They are fun to shoot!

If you’ve never held a Henry rifle then I strongly suggest you do.

In the mean time, why don’t you get a FREE Henry Catalog. Simply click on the banner or on the photo on the left and you’ll be taken to the Henry Rifle website where you can request your FREE catalog.

The catalog itself is fun to read and is full of history.

Please get the catalog and consider picking up a Henry Rifle in the future. They are the sole supporters of this website and we can’t say enough good things about Henry and their company.

Varmint Hunting – Shooting Prairie Dogs – High Powered Rifle – South Dakota Hunting – Long Range Shooting

Do ya like prairie dog hunting?

There are tens (probably hundreds) of thousands of prairie dogs in the prairies of South Dakota that need to be thinned out.

Take a high powered rifle, a good rifle scope and lots of ammo and have some fun…and help the landowners in the process.

This video was shot in the Sioux Indian Reservation with their permission and direction from one of their guides.

You’ll have to get past the 40 second lead-in on the video before you get to the prairie dog shooting.

Enjoy!

Here’s a fun video to watch – 295 in farm country in Michigan. Using a Remington 700 .22-250 rifle from sitting position.

Author mentions:

There is no closed season on woodchucks in Michigan. Nor are there any limits. They are considered a nuisance animal. Small game licenses are required to hunt them unless you are on your own property or are the invited guest on another’s property where the woodchuck is causing damage to the property. There are no firearm restrictions either so long as it is a legal gun to own. Woodchucks are true hibernators during the coldest winter months usually waking up in late February or early March.

Enjoy the shot!
